Schools and Colleges remain suspended due to lockdown extension



From Monday, the third phase of the lockdown has begun and as a result schools and educational institutes will remain suspended. Extending the lockdown for the second time, the home ministry announced new guidelines for the green, orange and red zones. Certain activities will remain prohibited throughout the country irrespective of the zone. These activities include – travel by air, rail, metro and inter-State movement by road; running of schools, colleges, and other educational and training/ coaching institutions; hospitality services, including hotels and restaurants; places of large public gatherings, such as cinema halls, malls, gymnasiums, sports complexes etc;  social, political, cultural and other kinds of gatherings; and, religious places/ places of worship for public. However, movement of people is allowed by rail, road and air only for the select purposes and for the purposes as allowed by MHA. Exams which were immediately scheduled after the lockdown were postponed again and new dates will be announced in due time. Council for the India School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) also clarified that remaining exams will be held and no exam has been cancelled. New dates for the NEET Mains and JEE exams will be announced on May 5.
