India’s participation in PISA 2021 finalized



MHRD 2019 had decided that India will participate in the Programme for International Students Assessment (PISA) in 2021. A field trial for the same will be held in 2020 followed participation in 2021.Recently, Union HRD Minister Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ met with the Division Head and Coordinator of the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) Andreas Schleicher in New Delhi. During the meeting, Mr. Pokhriyal discussed India’s preparation for the competition and said that India has the potential to perform well in the PISA exam 2021.Mr. Schleicher has offered assistance for teachers training and has also offered to send a team of teachers to Paris so that they can better understand the PISA exam process.In 2021, students from Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and from the Union Territory of Chandigarh will participate in the exam.PISA was launched in 2000 by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries which aim to test student’s knowledge and skills through a metric that is internationally agreed upon. The test is conducted every three years and it is not restricted to one particular curriculum. The content of the exam is based on the curriculum from around the world and it checks students’ ability to apply knowledge as they solve problems in the exam.
