UGC warned stakeholders regarding a fake CARE website
UGC, in its 536th meeting held on November 14, 2018, established Consortium for Academic and Research Ethics (CARE). The main aim behind establishing CARE is to maintain the ‘Reference List of Quality Journals’, hence the name CARE list. Another aim was to do away with the sub-standard journals which either publish false results or copy someone else research. For the purpose of journal analysis, UGC selected Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and established ‘Cell for Journal analysis’ in the university. In a public notice dated May 31, 2019, UGC had alerted all the stakeholders about a fake website – carejournals.in. In its notice, UGC asked all the stakeholder not follow the website as it has no affiliation with the UGC or CARE. If anyone still follows the website he/she will be doing it on its own risk and UGC will not be liable for any undesired outcomes or consequences.
