ICSE students may be given a chance to opt-out from exams
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has submitted a proposal to the Bombay High Court in which it said that students can choose not to appear for the remaining exams and in such case they will be assessed based on their performance in internal or pre-board exams. Few papers of ICSE exams are left as they could not be conducted due to COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier, CISCE has decided to conduct the remaining exams from July 2 to July 12. In the proposal the CISCE has also said that “for the avoidance of doubt, for those subjects where examinations have already been conducted, results in those subjects will be declared based on the student’s performance in such examinations.“. The next hearing in this matter will be held on June 17. During the first hearing, ISCE has said that it had already announced safety precautions for the children which includes sanitization of examination halls / classrooms daily after each exam paper, maintenance of social distancing of minimum 6 feet in seating plan, staggered entry and exit from the examination venue to avoid overcrowding, thermal screening of students and staff. The council has also mentioned that students will not be allowed to share or borrow stationary from other students. Meanwhile, the plea was filled in the Supreme Court seeking the quashing of the notification for conducting remaining exams of class 12.
